Robert Friedman – Co-Founder
Rob Friedman is a co-founder and CEO of Boston Sports Partners. He has four decades of sales and marketing experience, both on a domestic and international level.
He began his career in sales for John Hancock Financial in 1978 and was promoted to the global headquarters in 1985. There he helped supervise an exclusive management development program and was promoted to Director, International Operations. Rob helped launch John Hancock’s international expansion program and worked closely with the company’s overseas partners.
During his tenure in International Operations, John Hancock became a Worldwide Sponsor of the Olympic Games and Rob assisted in implementing marketing programs globally in support of the exclusive partnership. After ten years in International Operations, Rob was asked to head up the company’s sports marketing portfolio and over the next two-plus decades he both consulted on and managed some of the most prestigious properties in sports sponsorship. These included the Worldwide Olympic Games, Team USA, Boston Marathon, New York City Marathon, USA Gymnastics, Major League Baseball, Champions on Ice Skating Tour, Ryder Cup, US Senior Open, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics.
Joshua Milne – Co-Founder
Joshua Milne is a co-founder and COO of Boston Sports Partners. He has worked in the public relations industry for more than 20 years. For the last eight years he has run his own public relations firm called Joshua Milne PR. He is a media relations and social media specialist who has worked for clients in industries including: small business, e-commerce, online retail, B2B technology, sports, sports business, healthcare and design.
Joshua has worked at companies on both the corporate side and the agency side including previously working at Elevate Communications where he supported clients such as FSM, Roush Fenway Racing, Deutsche Bank Championship, Head of the Charles Regatta, the Boston Blazers and Staples Champions Cup. During his tenure there, he developed relationships with sports business press at the national, regional, and local levels. Joshua managed a team that secured 723 articles and 173 interviews for Fenway Sports Management in 2007, their first year working with the sports marketing agency; 440 articles and more than 40 radio and television interviews for the Boston Blazers in their first season in 2008 and more than 200 media placements surrounding Volvo Ocean Race in Boston. Securing media coverage for his clients is his passion.
Before working at Elevate Communications, Joshua was the Sports Marketing Public Relations Specialist at John Hancock Financial Services where he met and worked directly with Rob, and where he managed media activities for corporate-sponsored local, national, and international sports and community relations events with Major League Baseball, the Olympic Games, Boston Marathon, and Champions on Ice.
